"The way we see the world affects our behaviour. if we are lazy and crazy enough to see the world as something to suck up and shit out, the world WILL destroy us..."

This project has inspired me hugely, it's completley opened my mind up to a side of Fashion I knew existed - but never thought about, or considered. I'm learning so much, through consistant research into ethical and sustainable fashion. I've found out a LOT of interesting facts about the effects fast fashion is having not only on our environment, but in developing third world countries aswell.

I feel a change NEEDS to be made, are we losing what is good fashion? because of the franticly paced nature of new styles and trends reaching audiences. Does it need to step a pace back?

"We have an old fashioned model of mass production, but it's not working. It is driving out destruction, It has to start small. Fashion is full of mavericks, crazy geniuses. Oddly it might be fashion that saves the world." :London College of Fashion Lecturer.

Absolutley brilliant quote. I have a feeling Fashion is really going to push the world to the edge, which lets face it. It already has. However, with the younger generation pushed into looking at ethical and sustainable Fashion I do believe a change will be made.

It's sickening to think that in a way we are to blame for those suffering within the poverty cycle... Who knew what the affects that buying one Tshirt from Primark could have? When did we become such a selfish society, so obsessed with what WE want. We give little or no thought to those who are lacking basic human needs: Food, Water & Shelter.

I'm so, so inspired... And completley in love with this project.

Let's start making a difference.

Okay so as most of you know I've been having work experience with George at ASDA, in their offices based in Lutterworth! It's supposed to be 2 weeks worth of work exp, but with christmas in the way - it's more like 6 days spread over 2 weeks (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday!) None the less, it's experience! And I've been enjoying it SO much! I can't get over how nice everyone is down there! It's such a great environment to be working in.

I've been putting together fabric folders for the design team in the Menswear department. I've become a pro fabric cutter! lol. Yes, Lorna you should feel proud! But don't test me on it. And apparantley next week they're launching a new Denim project, or something. So they're letting me sit through the discussions and meetings.

The food is good! And so, so cheap + Free lattes and hot drinks all day? This just makes me happy.

I will try and snap a few photos and upload them on here as soon as.

Peace Out.

Define Perfection?
.........................................................
So everyone has their own opinions and definitions of what they believe to be perfection. But realistically, are women doing it for themselves or do they care more about what men think of them? Do we define what beauty is... or do men decide it for us, and we're led to believe that it is infact what we think?
Skinny girls, Curvey girls, Thin eyebrows, Big bold eyebrows, Tattoos no tattoos? Everyone will have an opinion on what they think is beautiful or not.
I feel like so many girls care so much about what other people they think, they're losing what truly makes them happy. When did we become a generation who felt beautiful only after a compliment and a bit of attention? It feels like instead of sticking together girls feel more in competition with each other to score attention. On a personal level I dress with what I feel looks good on me, I dress the way I do because I love what I wear - and feel more confident (despite having no money... and pretty much wearing the same thing over and over lol.) Who cares what guys think, honestly. Someone will find you interesting. Besides a big personality will outscore any of your imperfections.
I remember being at the Clothes Show and just people watching... Sounds sad I know, but on the stand when it wasn't busy there really wasn't much else to do! I found all the girls from the younger generation just all dressed and almost looked the same! You'd get the odd girl who would stand out, but most just look like they'd fallen out the Topshop wardrobe. It's worrying to think that they've lost there sense of style and wear what they've seen exact out of a magazine. Where's the experimentation, where's the personal touch?
It's worrying.
Oh Hello....
So I've somehow come across design proposals for Kate Middleton's wedding dress, from designers such as Vera Wang, Valentino, Karl Largerfield, Chris Benz.
A little bit intregued to see what Vivienne Westwood's come up with! But I'm pretty sure her ideas will be hush hush if she does do anything.

Florence Manlik
In textiles we were given some artists as references for this project, and I find myself completley drawn to Florence's work. It's a beaut. They've just got so much movement and life to it, yet it's so simply done. I've experimented using this technique, which I'll scan through and upload later!
