Thursday :)

So today has been quite a productive day, I feel as if I've managed to get a lot done... which is always a good feeling:D The day started at 12:00, meaning I managed to grab a bit of a lie in...can't really complain eh. So I arrived into Birmingham at precisley 10:54. All of this sounds retarded I know, but i'm taking a break from sewing, my eyes started to go wierd so I thought it'd be best. Now as you can see, I'm trying to kill as much time as possible by writing about my rather productive day :D lol. I went straight up to Millenium Point, where I spent about 15 minutes with my darling. And then he went of back to lesson so I started sketchbooking :)
In Production Skills I managed to complete all of my toiles.. which included a waistcoat, and a sleeve fitting with a zip (for my jumpsuit) Then inbetween I started doing my surface pattern for Textiles - which needs to be done before I can actually pattern cut onto my fabric.

We finished lesson around half two, me and Becky were near the doors and then I realised it was chucking it down with rain. So I left her by the doors carrying my half eaten banana, all my bags (with half my stuff out of the bags - as I was trying to make room so things wouldn't get wet!)and ran back to the FL to put my pattern cutting pieces in. I think I would actually cry if they got ruined.

We sped walk upto the train station, and I jumped of the 3:20 train, then got home for 4:40 :) I suddently felt the urge to be productive and have therefore been working on my surface pattern for Textiles ever since I got home really... with a little a lot breaks. But I'm getting somewhere.

Blogs just feel empty without visuals, so I decided to take some pictures. It's PROOF. I'm getting somewhere :D

So...

So it's my first cousins wedding in August and I am soo excited!! It's like the biggest wedding we've had in our close family, I can't wait :) I've finally sorted all of my outfits out so i'm even more excited I just need to find some shoes! jewellary and then I'm good to go! :D I've got like 3 outfit changes to make in one day - crazy I know. I have a red silk sari to wear for the actual wedding which is silver embroidered and is one i bought in Malaysia last year. The other is a yellow sari made out or organza fabric, it's quite a pastel coloured sari which is filled with light embroidery. And the third outfit I'm debating whether to wear a salwar kameez or a black sari. It's for the after party, so knowing me in a sari I'll probably trip all over the place when I'm dancing - probably not the best idea but hey :)

So i recently bought the May issue of Vogue, and was glad to see a spread on Alexander McQueen! His talent will never be forgotton, his work is truly inspirational. R.I.P <3

This Project.

So i've finally fixed up my final design! This project was based on an Apocalyptic situation that's taken place. Mine being a Tsunami that literally wipes out everything... I am the only survivor that I know of left. It's taken a crazy amount of research to finally come up with a final design. I wanted it to still look beautiful... but be completley functional (slightly impossible huh). I'm have like 5 pages left on my second sketchbook, which means I'm going to need to buy a third one grr! I need a bigger bag!

The garment itself is designed for the catwalk, I found it so hard to find waterproof fabric that I could actually buy. grr. But an idea walked about in my mind.. why not use a shower curtain? Sounds pretty deluded, but they're flexible and I'm able to line it with thermal lining for warmth. Ahhh the things a fashion student has to do... creative thinkin' eh!!

I just hope the whole thing works!!

Yes. This is my life.

Uh, this is the room of a creative mind at work! Complete and utter disaster mess! But i somehow manage to draw inspiration when it's looking messy then if it was neat. Makes me feel as if I'm getting somwhere! Until i've done what i need to... and then realise I've got to tidy up! Grr.

Half Term!

Okay, so the past two weeks have been pretty amazing! It feels so good being back in Nottingham and able to catch up with everyone here. Plus all my friends who have been all over the place for uni are back home! :D I just feel so much more inspired and motivated, this break has definatley done me good.. and plus i've been able to catch up on sleep! which is always great.

My project seems to be finally coming along nicely! I feel like i'm finally getting somewhere and am really getting into it now! My sketchbooks are filling up, and I've managed to rework them and go back into them:)
